I've been taking methotrexate for 7 months with noticable improvement but am taking the next step with stelara. Have you had any negative side effects? How long before improvements were seen?
Ive been on Stelara for 3yrs. The only side affects ive had have been bad headaches and all bones ache for 2-3 days after the injection. I have been on tegison, soriatain, puva baths combined with uva/uvb light...tar treatments, amivive, not to mention topical creams. I have had psoriasis over 35 yrs and Stelara is the only thing that cleared me up absolutely.
I am in Queensland Australia and I am using Stelara at the moment and its great. I have used a different injection before and got good results with it but not like Stelara even in the heat that we have here it work. I even have to cut my finger nails now as they grow well. If you are thinking about a injection they are good. Good luck.
I started Stelara last December and I have had no side effects. I had an appointment 3 months later and by then it was all gone and has been gone. My scalp gets a little itchy when it is soon time for my next dose but I must say that I am happy so far! Though it didn't clear up the psoriasis under my toe nails but I can deal with that if it is gone everywheres else.
I have never tried Stelara, but what I'm taking that has cleared me to about 99% and keeps me that way is not for psoriasis but it works is Topomax. It is a anti seizure drug that I had prescribed to me about 10 years ago as an add on drug to an anti depressant. I noticed after about 4 months that my psoriasis had cleared right up. I went off the anti depressant a couple of months later but stayed on the Topomax and my skin stayed great. I then went off the Topomax a couple of months later and within about 2 months I flared all over my body. I spoke to my Dr and asked if the Topomax could be keeping my skin clear, he didn't know but said anything is possible, we decided I'd go back on a low dose and see what happened, well with in 2 months I was clear again! I've stayed on it ever since. I have small flares every couple of years, but they are very small compared to what I use to have. I use very little creams, 1 Dovobet & 1 Diprosalic will last me a couple of months.
I am on week 10 now and it is amazing! The cost is also unbelievable but I'm covered for now too.
