Any social impact I've ever felt from my psoriasis has been purely internal. Nobody cares. And if they do, they aren't anyone you want in your life anyway. Sure you'll get strangers asking you what's wrong with your hands but you just tell them it's psoriasis and they say oh and that's it. More often than not they'll try to offer solutions at which point you need to smile and nod because you've already tried them. People generally mean well.

I was a divorced woman, hoping for a new relationship. It was awkward for me to bring up the subject of my skin disorder, because it wasn't always obvious. I had my legs covered and when it finally came to a time for intimacy, I was horrified to admit that my legs were covered in red patches and scales. I wasn't sure how if would affect the attitude of my new companion. As it turned out, he was fine and we married soon after. One thing that did stress me - each evening around 9pm I'd have a flare up with profuse itching and feeling hot. It would last for a few hours. Not a good time to get close - and that was a concern. Having someone else's body heat close to mine, made things even worse. It wasn't what caused the downfall of my marriage eventually, but I'm sure it didn't help. I give him a gold star for his tolerance. He did whatever he could to make me comfortable.

@A MyPsoriasisTeam Member I bet your husband would trade skin with you if he could. Get some oatmeal powder, fine sea salt and avocado oil, mix them up and gently rub it on your patches as your bathtub fills. Get rid of your commercial lotions and creams. They contain emulsifiers that are damaging your lipid barrier. Trust me. The best thing I've done for my skin is get rid of the emulsifiers (any product that has water and a type of oil in the ingredients will have an emulsifier). Apply some type of saturated fat to your patches when you get out of the shower (cocoa, shea, coconut). Your skin will thank you. Please tell me how this works out, it sounds like you're willing to try anything, so why not try using ingredients that your body knows? Again, please tell me how it goes. I love success stories, and I know this will help you.
