Does Scratching Make It Spread And Will Psoriasis Affect Your Muscles?
It seems to be spreading on my legs, knees, feet & arms. Makes me want to scratch it and then it seems worse. Is there an anti itch cream that would help? Over the last month the muscles at the top of my legs to my knees ache at night to the point of not getting any sleep. It is not achy knee syndrome it is just a total weakness.
My dermatologist didn't say scratching it or pulling the white scalley part off makes it spread she just said it makes it super mad when u mess with it and for the itching she told me to take benadryl at bedtime.
My dermatologist recommended Eucerin lotion and I find that it really helps.
The only thing that helps me with itch is icepacks and then unfortunately the aching is a problem.

Check with your Doctor to see if you are difficent in magnesium. It can relieve muscle cramping and also help with sleep and many other things as well. A lot of people are difficent with this mineral. He can do a blood test. As far as the itching is concerned. I've often gone to the tub and splashed cool water on my skin (even in the middle of the night) because of the incredible itching. I found that really helped even though it was a nuisance (using a washcloth). YOU know that scratching just breaks the skin and causes bleeding. You can follow that with application of a lotion like lubriderm, coconut oil or your medicatied psoriasis creams. Spreading of psoriasis occurs on it's own but irritating the skin by scratching could certainly have some affect. It's so hard sometimes to know why we itch so much sometimes and not others, but check the foods that you've eaten before hand. Remember moisturizing the skin helps. Best of luck!
