Has Anyone Tried Methotrexate For Their Psoriasis?

Hi-
My doctor has suggested I try Methotrexate or Acetritin. I cannot afford the Acetritin ($800.00 per month), so I agreed to try Methotrexate. Has anyone else tried this? Did it help? What were your side effects?
Thank you -
Judy

Hi-
I have taken the a pre-liver test and have the needed tests for monitoring scheduled. So far I have been able to manage the side effects - for me it has been headache and nausea. I ended up at the doctor's office last Friday - my left thumb became infected due to a sore I had on it . Now I am on an antibiotic for 10 days.

I have had psoriasis on scalp, hands and feet since 2015. Tried acitretin, toctino and PUVA treatment. No relief from either. I have been on Methotrexate for a year now, slowly increased over time to 20mg. Totally cleared from scalp and feet. Was almost cleared on hands but it seems to be coming back again. Since being on it I have noticed pains in my joints so was referred to a Rheumatologist in December to see if it was Psoriatic Arthritis. She did xrays and blood tests but said it would be hard to say as methotrexate would mask it. Still awaiting the results. I have just received a letter regarding the blood tests they do regular whilst on the meds and it now appears I have had 3 high readings so now they want to scan my liver.

I was on it for a few years and it really helped for awhile and then I became allergic to it. Wish you the best
