Nail Psoriasis

Nail Psoriasis

I have plaque psoriasis and I think I am developing nail psoriasis. I am so afraid of losing my nails. Is there anyone here with nail psoriasis. This is such a terrible disease. I don't know what to do. Is there anything that can help prevent nail psoriasis?

An alteration of the nails and nailbeds is a normal part of PsA. A nail bed inspection is a normal part of a rheumatologist examination as the micro-capillaries of the bed are indicative of certain types of arthritis. Forgive my ignorance if there is a thing called nail Ps, I've never heard of it. But have had nails let go and new nail grow in under it a couple times since this started. Have foud that my nails are much smoother since started cbd oil sublingual drops.

I'm not sure this is helpful or not but ive had psoriasis since i was about 5, I'm in my 40's & have had issues with nails in last 4 years, especially on toes, will eventually soon need a few toe nails removed. The stuff ( psoriasis/ fungus/ whatever dr wants to call it), grows under the nail, raises it up so nail on other side digs into skin, making it painful. I know there was oral med I took that upset my stomach, another i painted on nails like polish, I didn't find either helpful for me so removal is next option. I advise everyone who is newer to this psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis or whatever else comes your way, don't over stress, you are not the only one out there, you will find this group helpful, find a different dr if your current dr doesn't listen to you & you will all be ok, just make sure you find time for you, even if it's only 5 minutes a day looking at the stars at night, birds in the daytime, whatever it is, you will be ok. Sending extra hugs out to everyone who found our group. Thanks for sharing, I'm sorry to hear your struggles with nail issues.

Thank you so much for letting me know. I take a statin and I've heard you shouldn't use CBD is you are on statins. Sargentdp, have you ever heard that?

Since I still work, I had to use something that didn't have THC in it- I forget the term they use in CBD circles. Ran into a local store and a very knowledgeable clerk who happens to have some arthritis so they sectioned out what was available in their inventory that fit that bill and pointed me towards that stock. Ended up with one called "Infinity" or something like that. Started by treating nervous cat with hair falling out and, God help me, it worked so well on the cat, I tried the human version...yes, sad life!

Hi. I’ve had nail psoriasis to the point that a nail salon refuses to give me a manicure and pedicures because it got really bad. Since I’ve been on Skyrizi, my nails are getting back to normal. I’ve been dealing with psoriasis since I was 10. These have been 31 years of ups and downs with this disease. I just wanna get back to normal.
