A very well-regarded neurologist once told me âIn Med school, we learnt not to pay too much attention to peripheral neuropathy. As far as neurology is concerned, PN is a nuisance issue. Our entire training is focussed on the biggies like dementia, Parkinsonâs, muscular dystrophy, MS, etc. PN wonât kill you.â I asked him about treatment. I took it for a day or two and gave up after walking around like a zombie the next day. These pain meds offer no cure and neither do they modify the course of the disease. For me, the side effect of Gabapentin was simply not worth it.
