Sebopsoriasis is a condition that combines features of both scalp psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. It's not a separate condition on its own, but rather an overlap where symptoms from both conditions appear together, making them hard to tell apart.
Doctors may initially diagnose you with sebopsoriasis while watching how your symptoms develop and respond to treatments. Over time, the diagnosis might change to either psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis as symptoms become clearer.
Common symptoms include:
- Oily, yellowish scales behind the ears, on the scalp, around the nose, eyebrows, and chest
- Thick scales with defined borders
- Deep red borders around scales (less silvery than typical plaque psoriasis)
- Inflamed, crusty patches
- Both white and silver flakes mixed together
- Itching
Sebopsoriasis typically affects areas where your skin produces a lot of sebum (the natural oil that moisturizes skin). It's most common in children and adolescents or people over 50, with men experiencing it more often than women.
