Is it normal to see a dermatologist only once a year for psoriasis?

The frequency of dermatology visits really depends on how well your condition is being managed and how severe your symptoms are. Some people need more frequent appointments, while others with well-controlled psoriasis may only need annual check-ins.

If your psoriasis is responding well to treatment and you're experiencing good clearance with minimal symptoms, your dermatologist may feel comfortable spacing out appointments to once a year. However, if you're experiencing flare-ups, side effects from medications, or your symptoms worsen, you should be able to get in sooner.

It's important to ask your dermatologist about their protocol for urgent visits. Will they make time for you if you're in pain or have suddenly worsening symptoms? If you need adjustments to your treatment plan between annual visits, how should you reach out?

Don't hesitate to advocate for yourself. If you feel you need more frequent monitoring or have concerns about waiting a full year, speak up at your next appointment or call the office. You deserve care that makes you feel supported and confident in managing your psoriasis.
