Do GLP-1 drugs affect the liver in patients with liver disease?

The search results don't provide specific information about how GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic or Wegovy affect the liver in people with existing liver disease.

However, it's important to know that some psoriasis treatments can impact the liver. Certain biologic medications, particularly TNF-alpha inhibitors like infliximab (Remicade), have been associated with liver problems. Other biologics linked to liver issues include:

- Adalimumab (Humira)
- Certolizumab (Cimzia)
- Etanercept (Enbrel)
- Golimumab (Simponi)

If you have liver disease or risk factors for liver problems, it's crucial to discuss any new medication with your doctor, including GLP-1 drugs. They can evaluate whether it's safe for you and monitor your liver function appropriately.

Your doctor should also screen you for conditions like hepatitis B before starting biologics, as immune-suppressing medications can reactivate this virus and potentially lead to liver complications.
