Hi all! I did food sensitivity testing with my naturopath provider to identify the foods that trigger my immune system, with a goal of eliminating them to heal my leaky gut and hopefully immune issues. Given my presumed leaky gut issue, I have a lot of foods I responded to, so eliminating them all will be a big hassle. I've had great success with eliminating eggs, gluten, dairy (giving me a 9 month period of being symptom free from PsA off my biologic). I am aware the American Academy of… read more

Members shared mixed but thoughtful experiences in response to a question about food sensitivity testing and its role in managing conditions like psoriatic arthritis. Several members found real relief through dietary changes, including going vegetarian, cutting gluten and dairy, and avoiding fried foods and processed meats, while others tested negative for food sensitivities and found biologics like Humira, Taltz, and Enbrel to be their most effective treatment. A recurring theme was that managing symptoms often requires personal experimentation, whether through diet, testing, or medication, and that what works can vary greatly from person to person.

I have done the hair analysis test from modernlabmanagement.com out of Florida. They sent you a kit. I got back 5 pages of sensitivities and vitamin deficiency. This was years ago so I'm not sure it's still around. It was $95 back then. Changed my diet and my environment.

Thanks for sharing. I do find avoiding more unhealthy foods helps me, I have to be careful with dairy, so I use things like Greek yogurt and kefir (which took some getting used to), and avoiding fried foods, and processed meats -- hard to do with everyone on a charcuterie craze with the meats and cheeses for appetizers.

Well Geezy Natalie, idk anyone that would of heard what was said , and Would of thought that those remarks are be Laughing at, not at all... We become so accustom to Our surrounding, to a point, it hurts, it sting ,but we keep going on and on and on. After 45 years I thought I had stopped SCREAMING. But I looked around and I Was The ONLY One Screaming, I Needed to reevaluate the things that are in my immediate surroundings, there with me daily & CHANGE, do SOMETHING, but of course, We All know, It Has to be OURSELVES, who has to make these Changes, work toward some things better and realize ,we live with WHO YOU SEE NOW, I know for a Fact, there is No Changing the Man I have been in Union with for over 4 decades, I thought, Geez, I can Change this Man I married ;i nto a man , more to my Settings, Hahahahahahahahaha, Nothing, Nada, No Way, Forget about it. " I Started to Laught & the Whole World started Crying, the BeeGee 1970's. That is what it has turned into. SO I, STOPPED. not in my trying but in my approach. I Gave no Approach, I , S.T.O.P.P.E.D playing the game, I changed the Rules, but never Shared the Rules of this New Game. Never EXPLAINED , Never Discussed... It has taken Me Years & I am still changing My Rules, to Fit my Peace of Mind. I, AS hard and difficult as it has been, I TRAINED MYSELF, Not To Reply! Not to Engage! Not to give Satifaction of any kind! NOT TO SPEAK. Drastic, maybe, but need to Protect my Overly Emotions, not to be PULLED ONTO HIS GAME.. Silence is Golden And Powerful, that is what I came to find, all within Oneself. Hardest, Best Work/Change I had ever done for myself. HAD TO ,WANTED TO, for regaining my own self respect...Natalie, one day at a time. Less words, less convincing, less begging, less saddness, less depression, less Anxiety. I still have a those things, but i am in better control now, than the many years that have PAST, Gone, never to get back, wasted, in some ways. But Today is a new day. That ,I believe is a good enough place to start! Just my thoughts, take care & thank you Natalie

Well, I have done food allergy/sensitivities testing more than once. I do not have any food allergies or sensitivities at all so biologic medication has been what has helped me the most. Thankfully, I have not suffered side effects from my biologic and I’ve used three different (HUMIRA, Taltz, ENBREL) so far.

What an impressive result — 9 months symptom-free off your biologic is no small thing! Your experience really mirrors what many MyPsoriasisTeam members have shared about diet making a meaningful difference.

While IgG testing specifically has mixed support in mainstream medicine, many members have found success identifying their personal food triggers through various methods. The key takeaway from the community is that triggers are highly individual — what causes a flare for one person may be completely fine for another. One MyPsoriasisTeam member shared that a food intolerance test was genuinely helpful for them, saying they never would have guessed that tea, salmon, asparagus, or pineapple were triggering their flares.

For managing a long elimination list without feeling overwhelmed, some practical approaches members have used include:

- Keeping a detailed food diary to track what you eat alongside symptoms (noting that triggers can take 1–4 days to show up)
- Eliminating foods in phases rather than all at once
- Reintroducing foods one at a time to confirm which are truly problematic
- Tracking other triggers too — stress, weather, and sleep alongside food One important caution worth mentioning — a MyPsoriasisTeam columnist shared a personal experience where strict elimination dieting gradually became disordered eating. It's worth keeping that in mind and working closely with a registered dietitian to make sure nutritional needs are met while navigating a long elimination list.

Always loop in your doctor before making significant dietary changes, especially given your history with biologics.
