Members managing PsA with medicine sensitivity shared a wide range of strategies, from anti-inflammatory and low-carb diets to natural remedies like white willow bark, turmeric, ginger tea, and natural oil-based moisturizers. Several members warned about the serious long-term risks of common OTC pain relievers like ibuprofen and Tylenol, sharing personal stories of stomach damage and intestinal injuries. A recurring theme was the importance of being your own best advocate, asking doctors good questions, and leaning on community support to navigate the emotional and physical challenges of living with PsA.

I agree Terri, I was taking Tylenol or generic brand acedomidaphine for headaches. When my headache lasted 5 days I researched and found that Tylenol causes headaches if taken several days in a row. I stopped taking it and switched to white willow bark. It was gone in 20 minutes.

Yes I took Advil for years for migraines and I ended up in the hospital with a perforated intestine. My specialist dr. said Advil use can cause diverticulitis so I take the odd Tylenol and use a cold pack on my forehead. I am now on Methatrexate for psoriasis so not allowed to really take anything that is processed in your liver. I wish I had known years ago about the damage a simple over the counter pill could cause.

@A MyPsoriasisTeam Member @A MyPsoriasisTeam Member thank you for your suggestions. Robina I do these things as well but my work is very taxing as a cook that does all meats veggies and breads. I stay inflamed. Anti inflammatories only work partially and clean eating only helps a little.

No one is thinking of self harm it was about side effects that a particular medicine can do

You really have to be careful with pregablin ( lyrica) because it can cause your depression to get worse and in some people it causes suicidal thoughts. My problem is every biologic that I have been on it end up in the ER with chest pains the doctor put me on nitro due the fact that the biologics caused heart issues. I ended up having an allergic reaction to the methotrexate injections. So i have been trying to find ways to off set the pain. I do drink my turmeric, ginger, cayenne, lemon and cumin teas but have to be careful as the turmeric thins the blood and im already on bp meds. At one point I was partaking in Marijuana my general practioner said if I could find gummies he would be happier but he understood as far as the relief part. I am just dealing with the pain at this point.
I do eat low carb, no sugar, no red meat no pork for the most part( once in a while I will cheat) I try to stay away from fried foods as well.
