My doctor put me on a 6 month trial for my hand psoriasis. The best my hands have felt in a while. It didn't disappear but did improve significantly. There are some side effects that are individual, for me the hair thinning was too much to take. I'm waiting for a follow up to try something else,

I initially had the worst flare up ever and had to take 3 months of work as a mental health staff nurse. Didn’t think at that time I would improve. I did improve but the side effects were uncomfortable - dry nose, lips and eyes, sticky skin and early on had headaches. Now reduced from 40mg to 30mg but use Anstiller (likely wrong spelling) to assist. I’m concerned that I never had bone degeneration before Acitretin and soon after I started getting pain in my hip which is now a diagnosis of osteoarthritis and need a hip replacement at 48 years old. Maybe a coincidence but perhaps not? Hope everyone is managing well currently xxx

I was put on Acitretin 6 months ago and it has significantly cured my psoriasis. I no longer have any marks on my face, my scalp is back to normal, no marks on my arms elbows and my legs are 98% better. Over the past few months I have been stressing as the pain in my bones, muscles, every part of my body aches and is getting worse, When checking the possible side effects the common one is joint and muscle pain which stopped me stressing as I thought I might have cancer. The pain is bad, but the psoriasis was worse.

Said my hair would grow back when I stopped this med....still waiting twenty years later.
If I knew I would not have taken this!!

Didn't touch the sides on mine but everyone is different and unfortunately with all these medications, you don't know if they will work without trying them. Also, there is a process of prescribing that the specialists have to follow before they can move you onto a new one to try - good luck !
