It may never fully clear up - thats the sad part about psoriasis. You need to go to a dermatologist and find out about the medications that are available to you that may help you clear. Topicals are not going to do that for severe outbreaks.

I have been using Daivonex ointment for years. it isn't a steroid ointment. Have started a treatment of Humira which after 30 odd years has totally cleared it up as well as my Psoriatic Arthritis.

If you are a new psoriasis patient, please find a good dermatologist in your area and ask about oral or biologic treatments as opposed to only lotions or creams. Nothing will cure it but many options to keep you feeling much better.
