If You Know You're Getting A New Spot Of Psoriasis, Is There Anything You Can Do To Prevent It?

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Richmond, BC

My psoriasis has been fairly mild, mostly scalp and around my ears, and a couple of spots on my elbows. I've never had a regular doctor for it and haven't ever been on medication because I move around a lot (currently living in Oman!) and it hasn't been that bad. But in the last few days I've noticed dry spots on both my eyelids that I suspect might be turning into psoriasis. Is there any way to stop them before they really form? I have Psoriasin ointment but I'm hesitant to put any random cream… read more

I stayed off gluten but it seems to be in every food you buy... it is hard to find anything without it. Soups etc., I find Gluten free breads awful, tasteless. I just try and eat as little bread as I can rather than go Gluten free, Sugar is definitely a trigger as it is inflammatory. Alot of people get help from going Gluten free. it's hard.

Pitting of the finger nails is a sign of an iron deficiency. Can u get them to test your vitamin levels? And try staying off gluten to see if that might help?

I was terrified when I got it on my eyebrows and on the middle of both eyelids... I live alone and hadnot seen the Dermatologist or Rheumie at this stage. I just kept putting cream on it... it has gone away [for now ] . I don't think antibiotics are the answer.... My G.P. told me It was NOT psoriasis, it WAS, surely I should know psoriasis when I have it in other places, [nether regions ] and tips of elbows, extremely bad plaques on scalp making it impossible to colour my hair, and thinning it out. ~ If you are run down on antibiotics, make sure to take the probiotics after you finish the antibiotics and along with that.. keep on them. Are you on a Biologic? Doctors differ, and there is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion, your eyes, your psoriasis and your life.
I went to see one of the best Rheumatologists here in my city, he is not sure if I have psoriatic arthritis. Even though I have all the smptoms..!! So he is getting a 2nd opinion, and also has ruled out R.A. with XRays but doing more tests... I have bad pitting in finger nails... so Doctors arenot Gods.

I am lucky my daughter in law is a hairdresser. But she does have some of her clients shampoos that she uses when they come. She is very good and does all she can to reassure her clients if they are embarrassed,
