When We’re You Diagnosed With PsA And What Were Your Symptoms?
I’m finally going to the dermatologist after having psoriasis my whole life. It wasn’t until I was 17 that a doctor actually was able to tell me what it was. I am a worrywort (I take Zoloft for anxiety and it helps, a little). I brought up to one of my last pcp providers about the possibility of having PsA since I know it is likely and don’t want to overlook it if o get it. My symptoms are fatigue (even before I had kids), stress/anxiety, freequent headaches/back (upper and lower, just… read more
Hi Guys, I'm just going to cut and paste my update from the other day. I'm hoping someone reads it :)...
Ok folks, I haven’t been on here in a long time because I haven’t had much to say. Today is different. For the last year my joint pain has been getting very bad. Every joint in my body was painful. Nights were the worst. I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis which wasn’t a big surprise but what has happened since then was!
In September I was given a drug Leflunomide. Low and behold my Psoriasis has almost cleared up! I have had severe Psoriasis for 34 years and the only thing that ever worked was @@@Stelara but since the cancer I don’t feel comfortable even considering it again even though apparently it is an option.
Even though my Dermatologist is very involved with trials and up on the latest drugs, he never suggested Leflunomide . I’m not sure why. I am no expert, but I really don’t think that it can be any more toxic than Methotrexate and all the other drugs I’ve put into my body fighting this beast we call Psoriasis.
If you have stubborn Psoriasis and have tried everything, like I had, please talk to your Dermatologist about Leflunomide ! It’s off label for a Psoriasis but from what I have read, there have been a few studies on the use of it for Psoriasis with very positive results!
Please let me know ! Below is a link to one study.

I loved Stelara! I was almost completely clear for 6 years (5 during trial, 1 post trial). I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and had to go off Stelara. At the time my dermatologist said that I’d probably never be able to go on another biological. It was heartbreaking when my P came back with a vengeance.
In September when I went to a Rheumatologist for PsA he told me that biologicals were ok and an option for me but I’m still worried about the possible connection between the cancer and Stelara. He says that there isn’t any connection but I chose to try an oral med Leflunomide. Apparently it isn’t a drug that is normally prescribed for Psoriasis, but it really cleared it up for me! That said, the last few nights the PsA has felt a bit worse. Hoping that it’s just temporary.
How did you go on with stellar I had 2 injection the results were fantastic but in December last year got Sepsis under Doctors for months got pneumonia in April had to stop taking it it affected my immune system to much
Hi, I was diagnosed with PsA last month after having psoriasis since I was 16. My symptoms were painful feet, knee joints, hip and groin joints. I got backache and neck ache.very fatigued. I had putting of the nails, my fingers were stolen , more so on my right hand. My knees also crack not sure that was a symptom of PsA.
