I have recently started Humira because my joint paint is unbearable for every day functions. I was previously on stelara and loved it but there hasn’t been testing with pregnancy. Is there anyone going through this or that has gone through this?
Thank you for getting back to me! I am actually coming off the humira and going back on stelara. I had my yearly check up and explained that stelara isn’t necessarily more dangerous, it is just newer. There are less studies since it is newer, but nothing negative has shown up.
My rheumatologist is trying to get me on Cimzia as she said it is more safe to use during the full pregnancy and breastfeeding. I believe she said other biologics like Humira you can use during the first two trimesters but not the third trimester and not during breastfeeding.
Hi Christyc04, it has been over a month since I started Cimzia. I got my first injection at the end of January, then I got the second 2 weeks later, and then the thrid shot 2 weeks after that. Now the shots will be every 4 weeks. I’ve noticied improvements in my PsA as well as some of my psoriasis patches on my scalp, but I have other patches on my body that are still there. My rheum did tell me these meds csn be slow to start but I’m happy eith my progress so far!
I agree! I’m still waiting to get started. My rheum was upfront and said it can take Cimzia longer to work than other biologics. My guess is because maybe it is less potent (and maybe therefore safer to use with pregnancy?).
Please let me know how it works for you. I have a follow up appointment February 22nd so they don’t want me to change medication till then but it would be helpful to hear your experience. I feel like there are not many people our age dealing with this so it is some what a relief to not feel alone in this.
