Can You Have Your Teeth Cleaned While On Humira?

A MyPsoriasisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Watkinsville, GA

I know that for dental work, you should discontinue Humira for a certain period of time. What if you’re just having your teeth cleaned? I have an appt for a cleaning tomorrow and it’s also the day I’m supposed to have my next injection. I’m new to the world of biologics. Should I reschedule my dental appt?

Personally, I'd stick with the appointment you have brushing, thoroughly both before and after the cleaning. And, I'd use a strong mouthwash as well (before and after). But, make sure you inform your dentist before the cleaning that you are a Humira patient since they may not want to do the cleaning. In the future, asking your rheumatologist for a true medical opinion is your best course of action.
Good luck and keep smiling!
Cheers,
bob

I love this site and the interaction however, I’m embarrassed that there is judging if someone gets the vaccination or not. It is a personal preference and decision. You don’t have the right to judge someone who decides due to the data available not to receive the vaccine. Also, how do you know that someone who isn’t going to get the vaccine is a TRUMP supporter or not!?!

PS
You should always advise your doctors, dentists and any health professionals about any medications you are on.
