It's a combination of x-rays and blood work to check for inflammation in your body. Plus they ( typically a rheumatologist) should rule out other types or autoimmune diseases. If you have inflammatory markers, with signs of arthritis and other autoimmune disease are ruled out then they may think you do especially if you already have psoriasis.
