Concerns about healing scarring is something that Red and Infrared LED Light Therapy may help. I’ve shared a lot about that because I’ve been reading about how it’s even prescribed by doctors after surgery now due to its skin healing abilities. I’ll put together some more links in a post specifically about Red Light Therapy so others can see it’s not hocus pocus but has real scientific backing.

I asked my doctor about it before trying anything and he’s behind me in it. Ask yours? After researching it I decided to use it only every other day, or about 3x a week, because that’s what the scientific studies I read had done. I’m guessing this gives your body time to process what it’s exposed to before hitting it again?

It’s called RLT Red Light Therapy , also LLLT Low Level Light Therapy, as well as Photobiomodulation, but the studies and lectures I found suggested a mix of Red and Near Infrared LED lights in specific ranges of wavelengths. I looked hard to find a light source that matched those.. 660 and 850 nm if I remember correctly. I don’t use a heat lamp or incandescent bulb, but instead found some screw in LED bulbs on Amazon made by a company called Wolezek that are the right wavelength for this use. https://www.amazon.com/Therapy-Lamp-54W-Infrare...

Happy to share what I’ve learned. I don’t get this closer than 10-12” away from skin and the light came with some special sunglasses. I figured it’s certainly worth a 45$ clip on lamp :) and it is making me feel great, too. Imagine that, in the wintertime!

Scars would come from picking at scaling associated with Ps and can be permanent. There are several articles on this site on dealing with flakes and scales of Ps- I urge you to find and read them. The actual Ps patches are what you and your doctor treat to minimize but Ps is a chronic condition and generally is for your lifetime.
