From reading the stories etc, of others on this site, there are a number of folks who can't afford their medications. It's concerning
I'm on 2 different programs. The foundations cover the cost of medications as well as co-pays. My doctor introduced me to each program. I qualified & the meds are shipped to my home monthly. This could help others who are struggling
Has anyone else been accepted by these foundations? And, are there articles on this site to direct others in need of assistance… read more
My meds are covered through the drug company, my previous meds were subsidized by the drug company and partially insurance. I have been on a variety of biologics over the last 13 years and I have never had to pay for them, I have never had to pay for the support surrounding them. It is really sad that not all people have supportive medical systems that can really help them manage their disease. I also live in Canada - we don't have to pay for any medical procedures, healthcare is covered through the government and for some things extra insurance for things like chiro, massage or physio but if we pay out of pocket we can write them off on our taxes.
Seems they would rather pay for you to do it yourself I don’t know why insurance companies act the way they do
All of this really does take being trained to understand how we each have to be our own healthcare advocates.
It's unbelievable how medications & care are so different depending on your location, availability, coverage, etc.
It was either use my savings on IVs & other medications or retreat to home & not being involved in life.
My prayer is that everyone can find their best care regimen & treatments, RX or natural, & that they are available, covered one way or another.
Hi EllieS,
I don't mind. I'm thankful my doctor spoke up to me. Hopefully this might help another needing assistance.
It's my understanding that the drug manufacturers created the foundations. Each has different requirements to participate. I've taken methotrexate (out of pocket) for decades but just started on the Rasuvo programs with self injection pens. Rasuvo, I'm told it's another form of methotrexate.
The other is orenica. I've been on orenica programs for almost a decade now.
Due to medication allergies & sensitivities, I'm told it's better to stay on these medications.
