Can a rheumatologist deal with psoriasis or do I need to see a dermatologist?

I have both as well and I see both but the rheumatologist takes the lead as all the treatments they have should work on both. They should ideally work together but the joint issues are not reversible so it is more important to ensure you are stopping the progression of the PSA, which is why the rheumatologist is the lead. They should also make sure the medications are addressing both issues: Good luck!

I hope to get an appointment with the rheumatologist next month. From my research, it would appear the initial medication will be Methotrexate with a folic acid supplement. I heard from those with PsA that biologics (i.e. Otezla) can cost upwards of $6,000/month. Medicare does not cover biologics so I hope Methotrexate will be effective for me.
