And she told me to leave it as it is. Last visit I asked her what to do. She was like its your chronic condition and that’s it. What should I do? Should I continue the ointment? I’m having phototherapy for body and for scalp i am not doing anything and its getting worse. Can anyone tell me what should I do?

I’m so sorry you’re going through the flare-up. Why did your doctor tell you to stop using the ointment? If your doctor isn’t willing to dig into other treatments that will provide you some relief, find another doctor if that’s possible.

Pitac, Yes, you’re right - maybe that’s why. I was told exzema is a fungus and psoriasis is an autoimmune issue. I was prescribed Ketoconazole shampoo when I first noticed the flakiness on a small area of my scalp. After a few months, the flakiness almost covered my entire scalp. All topicals gave only temporary relief. I know everyone’s psoriasis has similarities and differences - my scalp didn’t begin to clear until I took prescription orally.
I enjoy hearing about everyone’s journey in dealing with this.

Nejita, that’s good news about the phototherapy effect on your skin. I used it on my scalp for 6 months and it made no difference at all. I tried to be thankful that psoriasis was on my scalp only and nowhere else - then it started in my ears and I thought I was going to lose it!
When I made it loud and clear to my Dr how it was affecting my life, he then asked if I’d be willing to try an oral medication. Absolutely! and it has made all the difference - I’d forgotten what it was like to feel good. I’m happy to be alive. Wishing the best for you.

My skin is getting better with phototherapy. But scalp psoriasis isn’t getting better. It feels really bad.

I am doing phototherapy for my body. For scalp she gave me an ointment for 3weeks and told to stop. So i am confused. For body too i am not using anything else, just phototherapy 2 times in a week.
