Nothing "wrong" with placebo. It's generally acknowledged to be up to 70% effective. Why argue with that?
Don't expect one session to make a great change. You are exchanging dirty electrons with the earth's clean electrons. It takes a few hours the first few times. Eventually, it will become quicker. Mine takes about 20 minutes now. You can also ground barefoot on clean ground, grass, cement, stone, and pavers but not wood. It doesn't conduct. Any amount of grounding is a positive step.

I do a lot of grounding. I have a grounding mat but recently learned about dirty electricity. It's better to run it thru a door or window and "plug" it directly into the earth. So great for pain and inflammation.
