I took 15 mg of Meloxicam, and about 36 hours later, I was pain-free and enjoyed an hour-long vigorous walk. It was wonderful. Yet we are warned that Meloxicam, when taken regularly, can cause kidney damage. I am 80 years old and wonder if my age is such that I am more likely to die of other causes before I suffer kidney damage. What are folks' experiences with the drug?

While meloxicam can be used in older adults with psoriatic arthritis, there are some important safety considerations. In elderly individuals, meloxicam may slightly increase risks related to:

• Heart conditions
• Stomach issues
• Kidney problems To use meloxicam safely long-term, you should:

• Inform your doctor about all medications you take, especially:
- Blood thinners
- Blood pressure medications
- Diuretics
- Antidepressants
- Other NSAIDs
- Steroids

• Work with your doctor to monitor for side effects
• Never adjust dosage without medical supervision
• Consider combining with other PsA treatments for better disease management While meloxicam can help manage symptoms like joint pain, swelling and stiffness, it's important to note that it doesn't cure psoriatic arthritis or affect the underlying disease progression. Symptoms will return if the medication is stopped.
