David, I am sorry you don't feel well. My questions would be does your wife isolate regularly? Is it a head cold or could it be something more? I ask the first question because if she is still working and shopping among the germ infested, chances are she is already exposed to most of the worst germs. Why isolate from your favorite person if you are already exposed to germ on the regular. Second question if you think it could be something more than just a cold like, influenza or covid that changes things, I would kick my husband out (downstairs) for that. I get everything easily, have for the last 5 years, my diagnosis was just this year. Use your best judgment only your wife and you know how this effects your life. Is it worth it to you and her to isolate? Just my thoughts.

Should you isolate from your wife if you get a head cold while on biologics for psoriatic arthritis?

Yes, it's a good idea to take precautions when you're sick. Both psoriatic arthritis itself and the biologics used to treat it can affect your immune system's ability to fight infections. This means you might be contagious for longer periods than someone without these factors.

While most people recover from common colds without issues, being on immunosuppressant medications means your body may take longer to fight off the infection. You're also more susceptible to complications from what starts as a simple cold.

Here are some practical steps you can take:

- Maintain distance when possible, especially during the first few days when you're most contagious
- Wash your hands frequently
- Avoid sharing utensils, cups, or towels
- Consider wearing a mask around your wife if you need to be in the same room
- Sleep in separate rooms if feasible until symptoms improve

It's worth discussing with your healthcare provider about what precautions make sense for your specific situation. They can give you personalized guidance based on which biologic you're taking and your overall health status.

Remember, taking these precautions isn't just about protecting your wife—it's also about giving your body the best chance to recover without additional stress.
