Yes. Especially if you take hot showers. Hot water is very drying to skin and city water is full of yuck. I installed a shower filter in like 5 minutes. Use an oil based moisturizer, not a lotion with alcohol it's also very drying.

Yes, itchy and dry skin are among the most common psoriasis symptoms. Surveys show that around 79% of people with psoriasis experience itching, and 72% deal with dry skin. So you're definitely not alone in this!

The main reasons behind the itch are:

- Inflammation triggered by an overactive immune system
- Rapid skin cell buildup, which leads to dryness and irritation
- Dry skin itself, which can make itching feel even worse

As one MyPsoriasisTeam member put it, "No amount of moisturizer is helping. It just seems to aggravate the itch." The forearms and back of the neck are very common spots for psoriasis plaques, so persistent itching there makes a lot of sense.

A few things that may help manage the itch and dryness:

- Apply moisturizing cream frequently throughout the day, not just once
- Wear loose, breathable fabrics like cotton to reduce irritation
- Avoid overheating, as sweat can worsen itching
- Try fragrance-free moisturizers to avoid added irritation

It's worth bringing up the persistent itching with your dermatologist, as there are both topical and systemic treatment options that specifically target inflammation and itch.
