Cooking With the Arthritis Foodie

Posted on May 11, 2021

If you live with an autoimmune disease, it's critical to take care of your well-being, and one way to do that is to ensure that you eat right.

Emily Johnson — also known as the Arthritis Foodie — shared this key insight during MyPsoriasisTeam’s live Q&A on May 11, 2021. During the event, members of the arthritis community had a chance to discover cooking tips, ask questions, and find out the best way to prepare healthy foods.

Johnson, who is the author of the book “Beat Arthritis Naturally,” joined MyPsoriasisTeam’s member events specialist Marti Malloy to answer members’ questions about cooking for arthritis, the best pantry items to have on-hand, and how she manages flare-ups.

Here are some of the things Johnson discussed during the live Q&A:

  • The best ways to stay healthy when you’re cooking on a budget
  • How to cook one of her favorite recipes, which she shared with listeners (download the recipe here)
  • How to choose the best anti-inflammatory foods when you are dining away from your own home and kitchen

Check out the video to see the entire one-hour event, and register to be notified about future upcoming live Q&A sessions on MyPsoriasisTeam.

About the Speaker:

Emily Johnson launched the Arthritis Foodie community in September 2018 after struggling with seronegative arthritis for five years. Her Instagram page has since gained over 14,000 followers, with people looking to Emily for inspiration on living well with arthritis. She lives in London, works in marketing, and has written the ultimate guide to living well with arthritis and chronic pain.

After a five-year battle with the condition, Emily embarked on a journey of healing — with food, exercise, and healthy living — and now, in her debut book, “Beat Arthritis Naturally,” she’s sharing the tools to put others on the path to taking back control of their own bodies. Emily has a fierce determination to change perceptions of what arthritis looks like. In “Beat Arthritis Naturally,” she delves into a variety of topics to help others feel better and manage pain holistically.
