Currently I'm only seeing a Rhumetologist because the medication is supposed to work on both the skin and joints. I am wandering if I should see a dermatologist, as well, because I have the psoriasis affecting my face, among other places. Any suggestions? Thank you. 🤕

I see both, but haven't seen the Rheumatologist since I was diagnosed with the Psoriasis. I have been on Plaquenil for 22 years. So I take it, that is something that could be adding to the Psoriasis?? I'm really getting concerned with some of the places I have coming out now. Especially over my eye! I'm new to this site, so any help anyone can give, I'm in need!!

I only see the Rhumatologist too. I'm the same as you, I didn't know you could see a dermatologist too. I was only diagnosed last year so I'm not sure about how things go at the moment. Could you keep me posted if you find out anything else please?

I see both now. I have skn lesions in difficult areas (c section scar my ear canals)) and untill recently the RA Doctor thought it was a yeast problem. As embarrassed as I have felt the dermatologist assured me it isn't uncommon to have skin issues wherever you have skin. I have to admit I hadn't seen the dermatologist in many years. While there I had him check a couple of moles I had, and low and behold I had basal cell skin cancer. On a side note humira and I believe others can put you at higher risk for developing basal cell skin cancer. When in doubt see a dermatologist too. Because the plaquenil I was first put on by the RA made my skin lesions worse. Good luck.
