My dermatologist recommended methotrexate. When reading about this medication and others that are mentioned on this site. It scares me as it's all canceres.

How effective are these medications for psoriasis and can one really get cancer from taking these meds.

Any advise would help

I think if you dwell on the side effects then no treatment will do for you, if you are a generally healthy person (not fitness fanatic) then most drugs will have no adverse effects on you, plus your specialist should ask for regular blood tests and if any effects do show up they stop the treatment, the benefits of these treatments outweigh the negligible side effects. Just my opinion :)

Stelara and Humira both worked really well for me (they both have assistance programs also). Been taking biologics for about 6-7 years with no side effects. Recently added Otezla for the arthritis.

Hi it's been a month now since I sent this message. Since then I have not taken of the meds and my psoriasis is so much better. As said before I was and still scared of taking these meds because of the side effects. So I've done alot of research and all I've been taking is a strong vitamin D tablet. A strong zinc tablet which also contains selzin. My skin doesn't flake anymore. It's just dry but I moisturize alot. There's times when it feels like I wanna flare up then I get a psoriasis ointment which has tar in it, it immediately takes away the dead skin. The only thing I had was pussy sores and I got an antibiotic for that. That was about 3 weeks ago. I now have a few puss sores again.
