Enbrel has been failing and I am switching to Skyrizi. My 2nd shot is in 2 weeks.
Yes, both are covered. Developed psoriasis at 5, presently age 66. My condition has been up and down ,like the stock market. Having a cocktail to treat my psoriasis is necessary. Call Skyrizi patient support, ask for insurance coverage, maybe then can help.
when you lateral from one medication to another you could develop a flare . I have has psoriasis many years and relationships with many dermatologist. Cocktail therapy , using 2 form of treatment at the same time, work well . when flaring I use cyclosporine. Currently I use Skyrizi and Otezla. Psoriasis can be stimulated with stress and anxiety, meds are available
Humira and methotrexate were my first. Dr took me off them after 5 months and put me on Enbrel because my numbers were still over 100 c-protein. Enbrel worked then about 3 months later she put me on Cosentyx which worked for a 1 1/2 then started failing. Psoriasis hasn’t been my worst part joint pain and inflammation and damage have been until my new Dr let me try Enbrel again for almost 2 yrs but my skin never cleared and I was ok with that because pain was so much worse. Then last summer my skin got terrible. Covered head to toe and it hurt to sit the backs of my legs were raw. (I did a short stint on Otezla actually before Enbrel again but did nothing to help) so today I can walk without my walker just using my cane and just trying to keep moving. My skin is super dry scaly but it might actually be keeping it from getting worse it seems. It is the pain omg. I have RA as well. Not to mention degenerative spine and cervical spondylosis. I had no family history to find out what was going on the beginning (2017) since I am adopted. My one son though was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis when he was a teen so we had that to compare to which is why I started on Humira since it has worked for him.
Most medication based therapies are designed with levels of care and tolerances so I'm guessing Enbrel was helping but not enough and now you are seeing your baseline condition while working towards a level with Skyrizi. I've found that with multiple types of arthritis, when one is treated, another type shows itself off a bit until we reach the balance for my PsA.
@A MyPsoriasisTeam Member does your insurance cover both Skyrizi and Otezla?
I can only get one covered via an open choice network on Aetna. I take Taltz & Otezla. Aetna Covered a biologic plus Otezla for 8 years, then last year refused. Ughh my MD is fighting alongside me. Both are my med cocktail that works. Living on sample packs of Otezla right now.
