I took it for 5 years and it did work to suppress the symptoms but what is it doing to your body. I recently found that diet played a huge part in my psoriasis. gone form 80 -90 % of my body to less than 10 approx. try going on a candida diet. Candida causes leaky gut which causes soo many other aliments. I have more energy than ever before ( that i can remember anyway). I think more clearly, i lost 20 lbs ( with no exercise outside of my normal activities). im told i look a lot better as well
I’m not a fan of methotrexate, because I had to be off of work on leave due to “methotrexate lung”. It’s a real thing that I had seen in my practice as a respiratory therapist, but it was associated with people taking a much larger dose for treatment of cancer. The dermatologist assured me that I was safe, because of the much lower dose. I have permanent lung damage, so I don’t recommend it.
I assume the P is the result of a digestive issue of some sort, the "leaky gut" hypothesis is one I pay attention to, but don't mention that to a doctor, they do not think it exists. I take L-glutamine, which I am told is what our gut is made of.
I am eating very carefully, after a life of eating what I thought was already very good.
I still drink, but hardly ever. I still eat sugar, but not very often. I don't eat dairy anymore, but I do occasionally cheat, like today, I had lasagna that someone else had made. I make a great one, without cheese...not quite as good, but still fine with me, and no cheating involved.
I quit gluten for almost a year, but am slowly re-introducing whole grain bread and cereal again. Still buying GF bread, too...half the time I eat that, the other half gluten. I love sandwiches, and toast.
I am using the protocol at FreedomFromPsoriasis.com, and have since June of last year. Went from 90% covered to maybe 5% right now, and still getting better.
I also quit dairy, gluten, booze, sugar and try to eat really health...but I cheat, occasionally, especially with sugar.
