Hi Kelly,
I suffered from severe fatigue. No amount of sleep helped. I woke up in the middle of the night, the itching could be terrible, and my lower back ached, so I wasn't getting great sleep. When tropicals helped, and N SAIDs kicked in and I slept, I was still fatigued. The fatigue is not only caused by lack of sleep, but the energy your immune system is consuming whole being in overdrive-i think that's why sleep is only part of the equation.
The only relief came when I started my biologic. Within a couple months of starting Enbrel, my fatigue basically vanished. Sure, I have occasional days where I get less than adequate sleep for whatever reason- but being tired is different than the fatigue.
I have been on Enbrel for over 18 months, and so far, so good, things are still well controlled, fatigue included.
Many people with psoriatic arthritis experience significant fatigue - you're not alone. About 30-40% of people with PsA deal with extreme exhaustion that doesn't improve with rest. The fatigue can make daily tasks much harder and impact overall quality of life.
