Yes, psoriasis symptoms can appear for the first time after pregnancy, including nail psoriasis. This is due to significant hormonal and immune system changes that occur during the postpartum period. After giving birth, estrogen levels naturally decrease while the immune system returns to its normal, non-suppressed state. These changes can trigger new psoriasis symptoms.

The postpartum period (first six weeks after giving birth) is a common time for psoriasis changes or new onset symptoms to appear. This is because the protective effects of pregnancy hormones like estrogen and progesterone decrease, while immune system activity increases. Additionally, physical trauma or injury to the skin during childbirth (whether vaginal or C-section) can trigger new psoriasis symptoms through what's known as the Koebner phenomenon. While the search results don't specifically address nail psoriasis, the overall changes in immune function and hormones during the postpartum period can affect any type of psoriasis manifestation.
