I never had "thick" hair, but I had enough to cover my scalp--those days are gone. From my first biologic on my hair has continued to fall out and I have not found any treatment that has been effective. Now I wear chemo caps, I can't stand worrying about wigs or hair toppers, and it is difficult to get them to look natural. Recently, I applied for a new passport, and the directions said no hats. So I had to wear a wig for the photo.

Yes, hair loss is a common concern with scalp psoriasis. Many people experience hair loss in areas where they have psoriasis plaques. The good news is that this hair loss is usually temporary, and hair typically regrows once the psoriasis symptoms are under control.

Hair loss with scalp psoriasis can happen in three main ways:
• Buildup of psoriasis plugging hair follicles
• Scratching the scalp due to itchiness
• Stress from managing the condition Regarding biologics, while they are generally well-tolerated, some may have hair loss as a rare side effect. However, biologics often help control psoriasis symptoms, which can actually lead to hair regrowth. Many people find that once their psoriasis is under better control with treatment, their hair stops falling out and begins to grow back.

Remember to discuss any concerns about hair loss with your dermatologist, as they can help adjust your treatment plan if needed.
