Common symptoms members describe include:
* Severe itching (the worst symptom for most)
* Pain, stinging, and burning
* Bleeding from scratches or tears
* Discomfort during intimacy
Where it appears:
* Inner and upper thighs
* Skin folds between thigh and genital area
* On the vulva, penis, or scrotum
* Between the buttocks
* Above the pubic area
The two main types affecting this area are inverse psoriasis (smooth, discolored patches in skin folds) and plaque psoriasis (thicker patches with scales).
While more than 40 percent of people feel too embarrassed to discuss genital psoriasis with their doctors, it's important to know it's very treatable and you're definitely not alone.
