I have ditched topical steroids and have been experiencing many puss pimples on lower legs for several weeks. Not sure if it's tsw or the Vaseline is clogging pores. Any insight would be much appreciated, thanks

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but Vaseline is not good for the body. It’s made of industrial crude oil and will definitely clog pores, but worse than that, it has toxic elements that would actually make psoriasis and other problems worse overtime.

What can you mix with Vaseline for guttate psoriasis, and could it be causing pimples?

It's understandable to be concerned about those puss pimples after stopping steroids. While Vaseline itself can sometimes trap bacteria or clog pores, the pimples could also be part of adjusting after stopping topical steroids.

Instead of mixing things with Vaseline, consider switching to a fragrance-free moisturizer as your main product. Here are some helpful additions for guttate psoriasis relief:

- Aloe vera gel (0.5% topical) can cool itchy skin and relieve scaly lesions
- Oat-containing creams can reduce itch
- Dead Sea salts in bathwater followed by moisturizer
- Over-the-counter products containing salicylic acid or coal tar for mild symptoms

For best results with any moisturizer, apply it to damp skin after patting (not rubbing) dry. This helps skin retain water. Apply at least 30 minutes before bed so it doesn't rub off on your pillowcase.

Avoid products with fragrances or dyes, as they can irritate sensitive skin.

Since you've stopped steroids and are experiencing new symptoms, it's really important to speak with your dermatologist. They can determine if the pimples are related to stopping treatment, an infection, or the moisturizer, and recommend the best approach for your situation.
