Specifically how long do people feel they've taken something and then feel like it's not having an effect after a while? If you feel like putting the medicine and how long you could take it that's great but not needed to know what it is, just how long it seemed to only work for. Just want to compare if there's a certain time frame for many people doing that.

Members shared their personal experiences with how long medications take to work or stop working, with timelines ranging from a few months to several years depending on the person and the drug. Several members noted that biologics like Skyrizi, Tremfya, and Ilumya brought meaningful relief, though some needed to switch when a medication helped skin but not joints. A recurring theme was that results are highly individual, with some finding a medication that lasted over two years while others averaged about one year before needing a change.

From what I've read from people here. Once it starts to work it last about two years on average. I've also read where people were great after 8 years. Still taking the same medication. Its different for everyone.

I just read about the MTHFR gene and how people with that gene can't process folic acid. The buildup causes serious issues. You have to use natural folate. Folic acid is synthetic. I hope this helps..

Iam on ilumya and so far so good it's getting rid of my nasty severe psoriasis. I have a very severe case on my palms, scalp, feet and legs so bad I can't walk. But since starting the ilumya I can walk and not feeling so exhausted anymore ๐Ÿ˜Š!!!

I was on Skyrizi for about a year and a half before my Rheumatologist put me on Xeljanz XR, because Skyrizi was helping my skin but not my joints. I have now been taking Xeljanz XR 11mg daily for over a year and had Methotrexate added in July of 2025. When I have a bad flare (it tends to happen with major weather swings), I am put on a 20-day run of prednisone. I also am positive for the MTHFR gene mutation, while I know how it affects how I metabolize some other medications, I am not sure how it affects the current regimen I am on. I am sure at some point I will have to move on to something different.

Some commercial medications say it can take up to 5 years to see clear skin.
