@A MyPsoriasisTeam Member 》WOW! Sounds like you've really upped your game on the Omega-3. Let me know if/when the new breakouts stop coming.
In my case, the new breakouts stopped long before the existing lesions faded away. It basically took about 5 months for the existing lesions to diminish down to zero, like a scab slowly healing but no longer an open wound.
In my upcoming book, there's a chapter dedicated to the HSL (hormone-sensitive lipase) subject where it involves insulin sensitivity and Omega-3s. HSL is an enzyme sometimes referred to as a "gatekeeper" of sorts respective of how insulin operates in the body.
In my case, I've never had high blood sugar or any insulin-resistance problems. I tend to attribute this fact to avoiding foods with high-fructose corn syrup, as well as artificial sweeteners, all the things that were not around during my grandmother's time, or mostly not around even during my mother's time.
Because at 5'9" and 250 pounds, I am overweight. Although I do carry it pretty well and am largely still muscular at 190; and very muscular if I could get down to 170, my ideal weight.
But my point is that being overweight has never adversely affected my blood sugar or caused any protein to accumulate in the urine (proteinuria). Some doctors will claim that being overweight is a risk for high blood sugar, and maybe it is at least generally, but there may also be more significant risks. All I know is that being fat has never spiked my blood sugar.
Anyway, the short story here is that there may be some reason to believe insulin resistance as it relates to the HSL enzyme could make Omega-3 supplementation less effective at controlling or reversing psoriasis. That's not to conclude it would be ineffective, but may just be slower to make a meaningful difference.
And the fact that I've never had an HSL problem might be why my body responded so well and so quickly to taking Omega-3s...🤔
Yesss.... Im seeing major improvements after taking this vit d, who knew!?😃
Holy cow! No skin breakout in five months?! I now take 4,000+ mg of high quality pure Omega 3’s … no added vitamins in this. I have been gluten free for 5 months and eat mostly chicken and Norwegian salmon from Aldi’s. Fresh organic fruits and vegetables when at all possible. I eat very little sugar and try to move daily … at least a 30-minute walk. Worst thing is to sit. Sleep is also critically important. No alcohol. No smoke. Lots of praying.
My current diet really hasn't changed my lifestyle to any significant degree compared to what it was, with the exception that I eat a lot more fish stuff. I've never been a big candy eater, maybe some candy once a month or so.
Then I've been even less of a soda drinker my whole life, maybe 3 sodas a year at the most on average; and even then only when I go out to eat. I never buy soda to drink at home. I'm either always drinking water, unsweetened iced tea, or black coffee. Usually I drink water even at a restaurant, or beer sometimes.
So the main things I've cut out for the most part at home are just processed foods. I use more olive oil and avocado oil than I ever have is the main thing. One thing I have consciously avoided for over 10 years now is any foods with "high fructose corn syrup" in it. I read labels and won't buy food with that in it, only cane sugar like my grandma always ate and lived to 103. I also purposely avoid any artificial sweetness for more than 30 years. Just real sugar for me is all I will eat.
So really not a lot has changed in my life and routines other than with a lot more fish intake than at any time in my life. And I haven't had a skin breakout in over 5 months now. I don't expect it will ever happen again. I really don't.
I looked up the Life Extension brand on Amazon. They have a ton of products and good reviews. Looks to be a good product. I didn't notice any straight bottles of liquid fish oil.
I buy the Sports Nutrition brand liquid, which is flavored with natural lemon oil. I don't mind the fishy taste personally, but the lemon oil tastes really good. It's spendy at about $1.00 per teaspoon dose if it's not on sale.
Still a lot cheaper than $25,000 or more for a shot of some biologix. That's the way I look at it. Always trying to save a few bucks you know...😏💰
