Are vitamin D and folic acid beneficial for psoriatic arthritis?

Vitamin D shows promise for psoriatic arthritis. Research indicates that people with PsA often have lower vitamin D levels than the general population. Supplementation may help decrease disease activity, ease symptoms, and reduce inflammatory compounds in the blood.

Many MyPsoriasisTeam members report positive experiences with vitamin D. One member shared, "I have been taking vitamin D for a few years. For me, it helps with joint pain and bone aches."

Your doctor can check your vitamin D levels with a blood test. If you're deficient, supplementation may be helpful. Vitamin D supplements are best taken with food.

Regarding folic acid, the search results don't provide specific information about its benefits for psoriatic arthritis. Some studies mention it combined with other supplements like selenium, but there's no clear recommendation for folic acid alone for PsA.

Before starting any supplements, it's important to speak with your rheumatologist or primary care provider to ensure they're appropriate for your situation and won't interact with your current medications.

Vitamin D3 is always good for most people. Most are deficient. When it comes to folic acid, you want to use the one that’s already been converted to methyl folate as it’s easier for your body to absorb it. Folic acid needs your body to convert it to methyl folate to absorb it and many bodies with issues cannot convert it, so it’s basically a waste of money. Folate is excellent for everyone and it helps to detox our bodies from viruses and. Any other things.

Here’s an incredibly clean, high quality methyl folate. It’s expensive, but amazing. It’s made by a small family in Florida. https://vimergy.com/products/5-mthf-capsules?_p...
