What are you all hearing about the covid vaccine in people with autoimmune issues... will you be taking it when it is offered?
No I will not take it. Being on a biologic that suppress immune system I will not risk it. As stated by Starrgazer, it was to fast in coming out. Not enough trials for me to risk it. In 5 or 10 years who knows what it's going to affect. More and more "new" drugs have worse side affects than the disease it treats.
I would say #1 is to always talk to doctor about it. My understanding is that if you are taking biologics, then you can’t have a live vaccine. The COVID vaccine is NOT live. If you’re also taking biologics, we know those can suppress your immune system, making it harder to fight COVID if you get it. Getting the vaccine makes sense to me to help protect yourself from it. I’m not currently on a biologic, but am seeing a rheum for this first time this week. This is something I’m definitely going to bring up in my conversation.
Im hearing mixed views but will talk more with my Rheumatologist after the Holidays. Personally I will be holding off.....
