To shave your legs without causing irritation, especially if you have psoriasis, follow these tips:

- Wetting Your Skin: Wet your skin with warm water before shaving to soften the hair and skin.
- Using Shaving Gel or Lotion: Apply a shaving gel or lotion to reduce friction.
- Single-Blade Razor: Use a single-blade razor to minimize skin irritation.
- Shaving Direction: Shave in the direction your hair naturally grows.
- Changing Razor Blades: Replace your razor blade often to ensure a clean shave.
- Moisturizing: Apply A+D brand ointments after shaving to moisturize the skin.

If your psoriasis is actively flaring, consider taking a break from shaving to avoid further irritation.

Thank you, I also used hemp oil a few weeks and it did something but after I stoped it came back, it’s hard to apply every day cuz I don't like the feeling of pants or stockings over the oil on the legs, but I will try your suggestion!

Try extra virgin coconut extract, apply several times a day and then wear socks or sweatpants over that to keep the moisture in. I used to do this 3-4 times a day when my legs were completely covered with plaques, I also used another product over the coconut extract and I swear that helped me even more, it was all natural. I changed all of my skin and hair care products to all natural, and cleaning supplies as well. My skin has been clear for at least 4-5 years if not longer now.

I wanted to add to my first comment — I think hair is preferable to red patches, and I have found that the less often I shave, the better my legs are. Recently I have noticed stylish young women in the city not shaving and wearing skirts with no shame. I am trying to be more like them! On other days — over the knee socks or hose with garters do the trick even in the summer, so I can wear dresses and skirts. I will still electric shave using a light hand and the trimmer feature to avoid my skin on occasion. In the summer so many people have insect bites, that small spots don’t receive any looks or comments, and so in that case, I might decide to shave and wear sandals. I have light brown hair mostly, so unless light hits my legs, the hair is not that noticeable. If that were not the case, I might try bleaching the hair rather than shaving it. Would love to see other people’s solutions for summer legs— and arms as well. I generally wear a silk or poly chiffon blouse or shawl whenever I go outside the home. Or a long sleeve cotton “tissue tee” from J, Crew. They are so thin I can wear long sleeves without being too warm. And it is harder to scratch skin that is clothed.

I use to use a mustache trimmer to go around the psoriasis plaques. When I was daring enough I would just shave straight through them with a disposable razor (or 2-4 of them) but they would bleed so bad I’d have to wait for a while until that slowed down. I was just so tired of my entire calf being nothing but thick plaques, I wanted them gone. I don’t worry about that anymore, as I keep my fingers crossed they never return.
