Members shared their personal experiences with psoriasis going away, pointing to treatments like methotrexate, light therapy, steroid creams, and Omega-3 fatty acid supplementation as possible factors. Several members noted that methotrexate helped bring about remission for both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, while one member credited heavy Omega-3 supplementation as the key change for them. A recurring theme was that results vary widely from person to person, and that a combination of treatments, lifestyle factors, and time may all play a role in clearing symptoms.

Mine has gone away after quite a long time on methotrexate for psoriatic arthritis. The pain and inflexibility from that has largely gone away too. About 18 months now on mtx

Why don't I have psoriasis anymore?

It sounds like you may be experiencing remission, which is when psoriasis symptoms temporarily disappear. This is actually a normal part of living with psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a chronic, lifelong condition that cycles between periods of remission (when symptoms clear up) and flare-ups (when symptoms return). During remission, your skin may look completely clear, making it seem like the psoriasis has gone away entirely.

However, psoriasis doesn't truly go away on its own. The condition remains in your body, and symptoms typically return at some point. The length of remission can vary greatly from person to person—some people experience weeks or months of clear skin, while others may have longer periods.

Several factors can influence how long your remission lasts:

* The type of treatment you're using
* Your overall health and lifestyle
* Stress levels
* Weight management
* How consistently you follow up with your healthcare provider

If you've been in remission for a while, that's wonderful! Just be aware that symptoms may return eventually. Some people who achieve complete remission for at least a year may work with their doctor to consider adjusting or stopping therapy, but this should always be done under medical supervision with careful follow-up.

My Ps disappeared at 17 from being a baby. Salt water and sunshine! PsA now in my hand only. Then only if I eat potato chips or French Fries! Still on Methotrexate=4 pills of the smallest dose pill. I will not complain!

TayKesslerBale, looks to me like it could be a combination of things that helped your immune system get back on track so to speak. I hope it continues for some time for you. I've gone decades with seeming like there was no issue and now in my later years as we all know our bodies change it has flared back up. Sad but true. Stress doesn't help ever at any age also.

My question was rhetorical. I allowed the AI here to answer it because I assumed it would default to trying to place a square peg in a round hole, which it didn't disappoint in doing. My psoriasis is gone, or cured, because of heavy supplementation with Omega-3 fatty acids, nothing else. It's a claim the AI would argue against if I had posed it that way...🙄
