Great question! Yes, biologics and JAK inhibitors are two distinct types of medications, and they work in quite different ways to manage psoriasis.
Biologics work *outside* the cell. They are proteins (made from living sources like human or animal cells) that target specific molecules — like TNF-alpha or interleukins — Show Full Answer

Hello Elizabeth, nice to meet 🤗I like your Awareness in things, kinda, like , The early bird catches the Worm, Be Prepared, that is what I try to live by. Becuz if you Stay prepared, then you don't have to Get prepared... I will admit, there are times I am not so prepared but I try. I do not like Health Surprises, though I have had Many, & they never seem to be that good. Elizabeth, I went off track, oops. You mentioned Skyrizi. Funny you said that one, hehe Here is Why. In 2019, I went on a Study & I was one of the patient to do so. It was SKYRIKI... Was on that for 4year, then another 2 followed. It was good on my Ps & to me, that was a Miracle, 1st time in my world of Clear Skin ,even though it did nothing for my PsA, they still continue me on the study For a total of 6years. So I am one of those Study Subjects & I loved it. The study did Everything, BW, testing, Every 3 months Full exams & compensated for it ; To boot. They paid for everything for my following 6years. I Felt like Well Taken Care of, a feeling not always felt , when dealing in the medical fields. So Elizabeth, my mother was named Elizabeth but they called her Rita, go figure 🤷🏼♀️thanks for viewing my responses & I love Hugs as much. Catchya later
@TerryDesantis My understanding is that any, all, treatments may 'stop working.' Awfully discouraging. I am always intrigued by the claim that some of these biologics result in 75-90% clearer skin, and for some it lasts even 4-5 years. Think:: Skyrizi. Sometimes, I have been terribly disappointed that manufacturers will change the formula of a product that I had been successfully using -- Cerave Moisturizing Cream has added petrolatum, to which I am allergic. So far, I am able to use the formulas noted as specifically for psoriasis.
