I know it I.Rose... here is some Info. I found on the Internet:
Put simply, you itch because your skin has receptors called pruriceptors (itch-sensing nerve endings) which get stimulated and, in turn, cause that itchy feeling...

alright already... :from the Internet🖥️: Receptors on specialized nerve cells translate that alarm message into “itch,” then specialized nerve fibers speed the itch signal to the spinal cord to propel it onward to the brain. The brain instantly deploys fingernails back to the itch site, where the friction from nails on skin unseats the invader.🖥️

That is a sweet memory. She sounds like she was garden smart. I want a bigger garden. I would fill my garden with spearmint if I could. I didn't grow any this year and I miss it. I grow it in containers to keep it contained. 😆 Otherwise it would be everywhere. I have a few wild mint spots I go to when I'm back home in the hills during springtime. I also get some wild raspberry leaves and yarrow and red clover. great to have on hand and once dry they last for several years. medicinal teas.
