Members responded to a request for new members to share more specific details about their conditions so the community can offer better-tailored support and encouragement, with many agreeing that knowing whether someone is dealing with psoriasis plaques, joint pain, or flares helps others relate and share relevant tips from their own experiences. Several members offered practical advice to a newly diagnosed member struggling with psoriasis, including using a filtering shower head, eliminating inflammatory foods like gluten and nightshades, trying natural remedies such as beef tallow or coconut oil, taking collagen supplements for thinning skin, and making homemade bone broth for its healing properties. A recurring theme was the exhaustion that comes with these conditions, the importance of finding shortcuts when energy is low, and the joy of connecting with friends around the world who understand both the daily struggles and small victories of living with chronic illness.

Jessica, getting a filtering shower head helped my skin. I also detoxed my life. House and food. Everything took time but it's so worth it in the long run. Look into inflammatory foods and cut those out where you can. This is an inflammatory disease foods heavy with gluten and grain throws coal on the fire..

I have both Ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis. I've been on biological for years . The only times in years when I had the least amount of pain was when I was on prednisone. Now I'm at the point of pain where I ve had two back surgeries and my neck is so bad my Neurologist thinks surgery could create more problems. I never know when I wake up what the day will bring. Not only can the pain change from day to day but it changes where it is during the day. Now I have added skin problems. I'm sooo tired sometimes. It's been a long slow progression for years. I've been on Humara, Enbrel, humara again, a couple years of remacade infusions, Skyrizi, and now Methotrexate. Also Otezla. I'm 75 now and a determined person. Still upright and pushing through. My rheumatologist is going to drop the Otezla for something new. What's really hard is people even those who know you can't see the turmoil going on inside you. Well it was nice to get that off my chest. ๐Ÿ™‚

Jessica, I'm seeing a lot recently about beef tallow. They say applying that to the psoriasis really helps it. It depends how widespread it is though I guess. I would check and see online the plus and minus of beef Tallow use for this before you do anything. But I'm sure that could be a natural help or relief in a big way for that. It's worth giving it a try I would think if many people are claiming it is useful.
